This post has been a while in the making, but I would like to take a moment to welcome Lisa Wood to the team as she begins her new career as a REALTOR®. Lisa has been a successful theatre (not “theater”) teacher for several years and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Theatre and a Master’s Degree in Education. Although she misses her students, real estate is giving her an opportunity to grow her business while also being able to spend more time with her family.

In the short time since she earned her licensed, she received her REALTOR® designation, finished her 25 hour post-licensure course, has coerced helped me finish a ton of marketing material I’ve been putting off… honestly, if you see anything new with regards to Selling the 912, you can thank Lisa. I know I do.

Lisa and I have been working tirelessly on marketing material, so I’m happy to say we’ll be participating in several upcoming local fall festivals. I’ll post the flyers below for anyone interesting in coming out to see us and enjoy the festivities.We’ll be debuting our new banner at these events, so please come out and help me justify all the money we’ve spent lately on vendor fees and materials.

The Living History Site is run by the Historic Effingham Society and is located in the old Effingham jail.  It was built in 1934 and it was actively used until 1993.  The Historic Effingham Society converted the old jail to a museum in November 1994.  Since its conversion, the museum has grown from one room to include two floors in the jail as well as the Living History Site which includes ten historic buildings.

The museum houses Revolutionary War, Civil War, and Native American Artifacts.  It also contains a library and research center with over 200 genealogy books, 60 local family genealogies, and a microfilm library.  The microfilm library includes local census records as well as archives of the local newspaper.

Each year, the Historic Effingham Society hosts Olde Effingham Days.  The festival usually takes place mid-April, and this coming year it will fall on April 13, 2019.  The annual festival features live reenactments, music, food, vendors, and children’s activities.
